Pilachhen is an ancient Newar settlement located near Patan Durbar Square in Lalitpur, Nepal. The settlement was severely affected by an earthquake,2015 in the area, and residents are working to rebuild and create a model for sustainable development in the aftermath of the disaster. The Newar people are an ethnic group native to Nepal’s Kathmandu Valley and are known for their unique art, culture, and architecture.
